Is ABC Fundraising A Scam?

Fundraising is a fantastic method to raise money for a cause that you care about, whether it’s an established program or a new one. While certain non-profit organizations, schools, sports teams, churches, charities, PTA committees, and youth clubs may be able to raise funds from donors, others must generate funds on their own.

And this is where ABC Fundraising comes in. ABC Fundraising has advisors ready to assist customers with the finest guidance to optimize their prospective profits because they provide so many fundraising possibilities.

You may also use ABC Fundraising’s products and services to raise the funds you need in order to meet your requirements. There are also articles on the site that may be used as a resource; some of the material in the articles includes fundraising ideas, how to get others interested in the efforts, and so much more.

The fact that you’ve taken a moment to scrutinize this product before signing up should be applauded. You’ve done yourself a huge favor. Your due diligence will save you from potentially wasting your time and money.

ABC Fundraising Product Summary

ABC Fundraising is a multi-level marketing company that sells fundraising items to churches, schools, and other nonprofits. While I believe their claims of earning $5,000 a month is pretty unrealistic, ABC Fundraising has been in business since 1993 and has a fairly good reputation. So I don’t think they’re a scam. They also have legit products for your to distribute.

Additionally, their cutting-edge solutions provide non-profit organizations with the resources they need to operate effective fundraising campaigns. Your task as a self-employed distributor for the corporation will be to generate orders.

Your skill to sell face to face and over the phone, as well as your motivation level, will determine how much money you can make from this program.

ABC Fundraising Background

abc-fundraising-background-1

ABC Fundraising, according to its official website, provides fundraising solutions that have assisted organizations in generating more than $50 million. Since 1993, they’ve assisted over 50,000 schools, youth sports teams, churches, and non-profits of all shapes and sizes with their innovative and very lucrative fundraising products.

ABC Fundraising claims to be dedicated to offering the industry’s most lucrative fundraisers. Simply put, ABC Fundraising is a US-based firm that has been providing unique fundraising materials and ideas to non-profits for so many years now.

They claim to be looking for motivated persons to join them as full-time or part-time distributors. In exchange, you’ll be paid a commission on any sales you make. Basically, this is an MLM program you will be joining.

If you go to their website, you’ll be able to find a “WORK FROM HOME” tab in their top navigation as shown in the image below. Once you click that, you’ll be directed to a page that claims you can earn $500 to $5,000 per month.

abc-fundraising-background-2

Honestly, I find the earning claims pretty unrealistic. If you can truly earn that much in ABC Fundraising, then thousands of people would be lining up to join this program. Furthermore, you will also see a video discussing the work from home opportunity to you. You can watch the video below for your reference.

The video doesn’t really say much but you do get the option to sign up for a free webinar. However, the webinar appears to be held every other day. The funny thing is, this is supposed to be a live webinar, but it’s not.

Sure, they might try to fool you into thinking as if it is, but in reality, it’s just a recorded video that plays endlessly and on-demand. I also noted that they employ another sales technique by claiming that there are “just a few spots available!” This is done to instill a false feeling of urgency in you, causing you to rush to join up “before it’s too late.”

While sales tactics like that aren’t uncommon, it still feels a little off especially when they are already lying about the “live” webinar. Moving on, the video was presented by Jamie Speirs, Co-Founder, and Lanny Walker, VP of Sales, and I felt they did a pretty good job of presenting the opportunities in ABC Fundraising.

ABC Fundraising Product Line

When you join ABC Fundraising, you’ll have access to all of their fundraising products. The organization will provide you with a brochure so that your clients can browse everything you have to offer.

Scratch & Help is their most popular product since it allows fundraising groups to keep 90% of the revenues without having to spend anything upfront.

They will ask you to take the booklets to a fundraiser, and you may give each member one of the Scratch and Help booklets so that their friends and relatives can scratch out two circles which will reveal two small sums of money, ranging from $0.50 to $3.00, that they must then donate.

Offering this product will also be good for you as a distributor as you can easily make over $500 on commissions if you manage to sell more than 100 pieces of these booklets at around $5-6 per booklet.

Here’s a video that explains how the Scratch and Help fundraiser works in more detail:

Keep in mind that this is only one of their several fundraising goods, and I must say that I’m really impressed with them all. They also feature all the staples, such as cotton candy, gourmet cookie dough, gourmet popcorn, candles, and flowers, which you can buy in bulk and then sell to buyers or customers directly with the help of other members.

How Does ABC Fundraising Work?

As a distributor, you will make phone calls to non-profit organizations, churches, and schools to discuss fundraising opportunities utilizing ABC Fundraising’s goods and services.

Not only can you choose your own connections, but ABC Fundraising will also provide you with free leads around your location which you can contact to follow up on in order to produce orders. It’s entirely up to you how you do business; you may phone, Skype, or meet with clients in person.

Distributors or contractors can get commissions on their accounts year after year. While it is feasible to make thousands of dollars a month, it is not as easy as ABC Fundraising makes it out to be. You will spend months or probably even years building up a network of customers that will consistently buy from you.

The good news is that once you’ve established trust and a good relationship with a client, you’ll almost certainly get repeat orders at least a few times a year, especially if you can create a solid rapport with individuals in your community’s schools and churches.

To be honest, this is a really great business model that benefits everyone — the corporation that makes the items, you as a distributor who earns commissions, and the local organizations who raise cash for a good cause. This is probably one of the few MLMs that I am impressed by.

Unfortunately, just like with any other MLM program, the actual income or rate of success when joining ABC Fundraising is still quite low. So if you’re joining thinking you’ll instantly earn $5,000 a month, you’ll be quite disappointed.

Unless you are really good at making interpersonal relationships within a few days or weeks, you might find yourself not earning much at all.

You’ll have to buy in before you can start collecting orders as an ABC Fundraising distributor. There are three different types of starter kits to pick from:

  2. Silver Distributor Level: Three $165 monthly payments totaling $495.

The amount of commission you get is determined by your level, and as you can see in the image above, the initial packets differ slightly.

ABC Fundraising Ugly Truths Exposed!

#1 You Need To Pay For The Starter Packs In Order To Join

While I really liked the business model that ABC Fundraising has set up for their distributors, the upfront fee required in order to join their program puts me off. Not to mention, their starter packs aren’t the cheapest either.

Because you’ll have to pay between $376 and $630 before you’ve even made a sale, there’s a chance you’ll be worse off if you find out later it’s not for you. Remember that making money through MLM programs is not easy and you might end up losing more money in your investment than earning them.

#2 Your Customers Can Also Buy The Same Products You’re Offering From The ABC Fundraising Website

As an ABC Fundraising distributor, I believe this is one of the key challenges you’ll have to deal with because most of the orders you’ll be making will be offline utilizing paper order forms.

What’s to suggest that as we get more comfortable with technology and incorporate it into our daily lives, our potential clients would prefer to buy ABC Fundraising products online? You can miss out on those all-important commissions if you don’t have a strategy to promote your goods online.

#3 Building A Loyal Client Base Will Not Be Easy

While developing a regular customer base is possible, it will take time and you will have to work extremely hard to build a rapport at first. There isn’t any way to avoid it. It will be your responsibility as a salesperson and distributor to get out there, make those calls, and chase down sales in order to earn those commissions

Advantages of ABC Fundraising

#1 They’re A Legit Company That Has Been Around For Decades

One of the really great things about ABC Fundraising is its longevity. This speaks a lot about how legit their company is. They’ve raised $50 million for 50,000+ groups around the US in the previous 25 years and have a solid reputation. This will only make it easier for you to represent the organization and sell their goods.

You also have access to their distributor support team, which you can contact at any time to get answers to your questions. They’ll provide you with a variety of training videos to help you become a ‘fundraising expert’ as quickly as possible. You’ll also get access to the live distributor calls, which take place every two weeks and provide continuous training and support.

#2 It’s For A Good Cause

ABC Fundraising has crafted its products in such a manner that they can benefit everyone involved. As a distributor, you have the opportunity to make money while also assisting non-profit organizations and community groups in raising funds for their philanthropic projects. It’s a win-win situation for everyone!

#3 They Provide You With Warm Leads

These are local residents who have already sought additional information via the website, and who are actively seeking fundraising assistance. Having leads like this provides you a significant edge as a salesperson.

Is ABC Fundraising a Scam or a Legit Program?

ABC Fundraising is no scam at all. They have been around for quite some time now and I must say that their program and products are legit and can actually help fundraisers.

However, just like with all MLMs, the rate of success in this program is still relatively low and there are much better ways to earn money online.

With that said, if you’re looking for genuine and legitimate opportunities to make money online and if you’re not scared of putting in long hours, acquiring new skills, and changing your financial situation, you might want to get into affiliate marketing.

You can generate money online while also helping others by connecting people with the items and services they require or looking for. The best thing about affiliate marketing is you can also use your knowledge of your hobbies, passions, and interests to establish your own profitable internet business.
