What Is My 20 Dollar Travel Business?

Ponzi schemes can be persistent. If you’re looking for a way to earn money online I’m sure you can attest to that. Whenever these unscrupulous programs are shut down, they lay low briefly, then come back under a different name.

Part of the reason why Ponzi schemes continue to thrive is because of the members, who are adamant that the program itself is genuine. They blame jealous haters for the product’s negatives reviews.

These members will continue to support the product even when they are provided with proof that it’s a sham. By this stage, they are way too invested.

If you’re searching for opportunities to earn a salary online, I’ll teach you how to spot Ponzi schemes from a mile away. After all, that’s why I created this site.

Today, I’ll be reviewing a company called My 20 Dollar Travel Business, which is the latest version of a series of programs that were revealed to be Ponzi schemes.

The fact that you’ve taken a moment to scrutinize this product before signing up should be applauded. You’ve done yourself a huge favour. Your due diligence will save you from potentially wasting your time and money.

A good bit of research always goes a long way in the fight against online scams. Creating a sustainable full-time online business is not difficult. You just need to know where to look.

Before we proceed I’d like to let you know that I’m not linked to My 20 Dollar Travel Business in any sort of way and I’m not trying to sell you this product.

Instead, I’m here to reveal what this travel engine recruitment scheme is all about…

What is My 20 Dollar Travel Business? It’s a multi-level marketing company that specializes in a recruitment program built around a travel product.

My 20 Dollar Travel Business Explained

My 20 Dollar Travel Business supposedly offers an opportunity to generate an income through their MLM product which is based on their travel program and a separate compensation plan.

My-20-Dollar-Travel-Business-Review-home-Page

The business was established by a guy named Steve Gresham who also created 2 other products named My 1 Dollar Business Travel and Savings Highway.

Steve established Savings Highway between 2009 – 2010, however, the business collapsed and was relaunched under a different name i.e. My 1 Dollar Business Travel.

The relaunch wasn’t instant. My 1 Dollar Business Travel wasn’t launched until 2012, therefore, it’s safe to assume that My Savings Highway didn’t shut down up until that point.

The 3 companies use an identical business model and marketing strategy to attract new members and concentrate on recruiting.

Steve Gresham has built quite a reputation in the MLM recruitment industry. I don’t think that he operates as part of a larger network of scams, instead, I think this is simply how he has decided to run his MLM companies.

My 20 Dollar Travel Business Product Range

Although they claim to be an MLM company, My 20 Dollar Travel Business does not provide any retail services or products. It gets a bit confusing because the travel platform is actually a separate part of the business which is not linked to the MLM program.

It will cost you $20 per month to sign up to the program. This allows you to use the travel platform which apparently gives you between 75%-90% discounts on travel, accommodation and various holiday services. The discounts are very competitive when compared to rivals such as Expedia or Travelocity.

Regrettably, their compensation plan does not incentivize members to sell travel or holiday products which is what I was hoping would be their business model. Therefore, the only way to make money is through recruitment i.e. getting more people to join the program

Does My 20 Dollar Travel Business Work?

Similar to Steve’s older programs, My 20 Dollar Travel Business works in the same manner. The only minor tweak he’s made is to add a second-rate product instead of offering just recruitment. The reason for this is for the company to comply with the FTC and SEC requirements.

We can’t call My 20 Dollar Travel Business a full-blown Ponzi scheme because they do have a travel product. However, the reality is that the majority of the revenue coming into the business is from new memberships.

It doesn’t look like the travel product is making profits for the business, therefore, there’s a heavy reliance on recruitment which is in fact a big warning sign from the regulator’s point of view.

The SEC and FTC guideline classifies any MLM business to be Ponzi scheme or pyramid scheme if their source of earnings is over 80% recruitment.

Similar to its predecessors, My 20 Dollar Travel Business will inevitably collapse when memberships dry out.

Getting Started with My 20 Dollar Travel Business

The company’s membership comes with 3 different pricing tiers as shown below-

My-20-Dollar-Travel-Business-Membership-Products
  • Member $1 (No Travel): This will cost you $1 per month (you don’t have access to travel services)
  • Gold Member: This will cost you $20 per month
  • Platinum Member: This will cost you $100 per month

What Does The Company’s Compensation Plan Provide?

My 20 Dollar Travel Business’s main attraction is their MLM based compensation plan where members can make money.

As a member you will be awarded 50% of the membership costs that are paid by the people that you recruit, which are calculated as follows:

Fast Start Commissions

  • If your recruit signs up for the Member $1 plan you will receive a commission of $0.50
  • If your recruit signs up for the Gold membership plan you will receive a commission of $10
  • If your recruit signs up for the Platinum membership plan you will receive a commission of $50

Personal Residual Commissions

The residual commissions are structured using a 2×10 compensation model. This means that your new recruits are positioned on your right and left leg, then the next level will expand by 2 additional legs each. This will carry on up to a maximum of 10 levels.

  • At the $1 Member level: you will receive $0.25 for each member that you recruit personally.
  • At the Gold member level: you will receive $5 for each member that you recruit personally, starting from the second month. However, their recruits will also need to join the Gold membership as well.
  • At the Platinum member level: you will receive $25 for each member that you recruit personally, starting from the second month.

My 20 Dollar Travel Business Exposed!

1). Primary Concentrates on Recruitment

The business model heavily depends on members recruiting new members. Therefore, you will not make a single dollar if you’re not recruiting.

The rewards certainly look promising for Platinum members, however, any members that you recruit would also need to sign up to the same level as you to unlock those rewards.

If you somehow manage to fill all the positions in a tier, you could potentially earn over $10,000 in a single month. This might sound good but it’s the basis on which a pyramid scheme begins.

2). Revamp of an Older Program (Ponzi Scheme)

Like I’ve mentioned earlier, My 20 Dollar Travel Business is merely a repackaged program of a previously failed business named My 1 Dollar Travel business, which was also a repackaged program of a previously failed business named Savings Highway. All 3 companies were created by Steve Gresham.

The earlier businesses collapsed after Steve departed for ambiguous reasons, then subsequently withdraw all of the money from the business’s bank accounts upon his departure.

3). Lack of Clarity

Similar to other schemes of this nature, there’s plenty of ambiguity around this program. If My 20 Dollar Travel Business is a genuine company, why have they not provided an income disclosure statement?

Furthermore, we’ve not found any testimonials from successful members vouching that the product actually works.

My guess is that nobody is actually signing up to their membership.

4). A Ponzi Travel Scheme

The company MLM opportunity does not work hand in hand with the travel scheme. Furthermore, we don’t know who’s backing it.

The majority of travel programs are either linked to a supplier or are part of a larger travel network. The travel income opportunities that I’ve looked at within the MLM industry are designed this way and will usually showcase the companies that they’re associated with.

However, this is not the case with My 20 Dollar Travel Business. My guess is that their travel platform is a front and probably doesn’t even take holiday bookings.

Advantages of My 20 Dollar Travel Business?

My 20 Dollar Travel Business is a Ponzi scheme and as such, it does not come with any advantages. Signing up to their program will not provide you with a sustainable way to make money online.

Is My 20 Dollar Travel Business a Scam or Legit?

My 20 Dollar Travel Business is not a genuine business, however, we can’t brand it as an outright scam either. This product has plenty of red flags, therefore, I would advise against signing up to it.

  • The heavy focus on recruitment means that this platform is on the cusp of being a pyramid scheme.
  • It’s merely a repackaged version of a former set of failed businesses created by a man named Steve Gresham, both businesses turned out to be Ponzi schemes.

My recommendation is to steer clear of My 20 Dollar Travel Business. There’s nothing profitable about it.
