How To Promote Your Business On Social Media

If you’re not sharing the content on your site then you are definitely missing out on valuable traffic to your site. Let me share with you some quick tips on how to promote your business on social media. I don’t need to take you through the history of social media as I’m sure you are already well-versed on how Twitter, Facebook etc work.

If you need a strategy to know what content to share and how to attract your audience to your tweets and pins then you’ve come to the right place.

Social media has allowed us all to extend our reach by allowing anybody to share whatever they want. You’ve probably gathered that this comes with it’s pros and cons i.e. sharing with the world that you had ketchup rather than brown sauce, on your bacon sandwich, isn’t really going to make anyone’s day.

So how can you figure out what your followers find interesting and ultimately leads to click-throughs? Below are a few easy tips that will help you get engagement.  I will be as thorough as possible and demonstrate what has worked for me. Enjoy!

(I.) Give Your Followers What They Enjoy

Before you can give your followers more of what they want to, you first need to know which content they find most exciting. To do this you should take advantage of social media analytics. It’s provided free by social networks and easy to use.

Twitter, Facebook, Pinterest, Google have their own versions of analytics to show you which content your followers are responding to, sharing, liking or retweeting. You can then see what’s working and give them more of this. Powerful stuff!

(II.) Deal with Issues

If you spot a problem brewing amongst your followers you should jump right in and help to get it resolved. Be empathetic and assist those that are struggling- this will put you in good stead and leave a lasting impression. Sometimes its hard to identify problems and a good way around this is to ask questions then take it from there. e.g. how do you deal with connection requests received from people that you don’t know?

If you make it a habit to champion problem solving, your followers will look to you as a reliable source of information which results in more engagement.

(III.) Expert Knowledge

In some cases, your ongoing interest / research in a given topic or niche might mean that you are the only source of information. This gives you the upper hand and means that your audience will come to you first before trying to look elsewhere. It’s important to continue sharing your knowledge and keeping your followers updated on the latest topics within your niche. My love for popcorn means that I always know the latest flavour combinations to hit the market and if I taste a bag that’s truly exceptional then you’ll be sure to know about!

(IV.) Don’t just tell them…SHOW THEM

People don’t just want to be told about something, they want to be shown how to do it. This is why tutorials and guides are a hot favourite on social media. Illustrations or examples of your topic will help your audience to visualise your message and will get them act on your instructions. Pictures speak louder than words!

(V.) Motivate your followers

If you are already doing some or all of the points discussed above then hats off to you 🙂 Providing rich, valuable content for your followers is important but you also need to motivate and inspire them. A good way to encourage people is to provide inspirational quotes that might have helped you when you we having a bad day or feeling low (such as the one below). Share those same quotes to your audience as you never know who it might help.

(VI.) I’ll answer that for You

Do you know what questions your audiences need answering? If not then I’m going to provide you a few simple places that you can start looking for FAQs and get them answered. Why do this? You get to build trust amongst your community, Google will reward your blog by ranking you higher!

Here’s where to start-

  1. Check your twitter ‘mentions’ for questions.
  2. Look through comments, posted by readers, on your blog and reply to questions or anything else for that matter. Google loves this.
  3. Keep a watchful eye on your social media circle to see the types of questions being asked by your audience and get involved.
  4. Check Facebook ‘posts to page’ for questions.

(VII.) Sharing is Caring

Similar to my earlier point, it’s important to remember that they’ll be something unique within your niche that nobody else will be able to share except you. This is probably the single most important advantage that you over other sharers. The experiences that you’ve gone through, in your niche, over the months or years are unique to you and your opinion will provide fresh insight.

So don’t hold back and make sure that you continue to share. You will find that your posts will naturally start to attract interest, receive more followers and this does nothing but affect your social engagement positively. Concentrate on providing great engaging content and you will gain a bigger following that relies on you and acts on your recommendations.

Thanks for reading and have a productive day!
